“Sound the System” with Slipmat Records is a new regular show exploring Jamaican Sound System Culture of the past 60 years. From Kingston to Notting Hill, Rocksteady to Dancehall and Coxsone Dodd to Mungo’s Hi-Fi! A full hour of Reggae that’s meant to be played LOUD!
In the studio this month, Mat is joined by producer extraordinaire and head honcho of the fantastic Dub Junction and Super Chip labels - Simma. Based in Hull, he runs the regular Hull Dub Club nights and also gigs all over the UK regularly playing festivals such as Beat Herder, Boomtown, Africa Oyé and this year's Reggae Land! His newest self-produced release featuring Natty Campbell - For the Win - is getting major radio play from BBC6 Music and beyond.
Simma will be playing in the Melodic Distraction bar after the radio show from 7pm. Check out the gig footage from 3 weeks back at a Northern Jungle event in Leeds, for a taste of what's to expect!
