THE PETE SMITH NORTHERN SOUL SHOW 2020 # 64 – “MY WIGAN CASINO TOP 50”

Well as this week sees the 47th anniversary of the opening of Wigan Casino, I thought I’d my contribution by playing my favourite 50 records played at Wigan. To qualify, these had to be played in the big room as top sounds at the time, between April 1976 and August 1978. I had to have heard them played there myself, so brilliant records that came before and after that date are not included. My tastes have changed over the years, back in 1977 I loved things like The Jewels but now it’s way down on my list, whereas things I didn’t like at the time, Sam Williams for instance, are now at the top. I guess we all change as we get older. The order isn’t really that strict and you all know what number one will be anyway, it’s just a bit of fun. That’s me (L) on the photo with Steve Kelly.
