1978 - The worst year EVER without a doubt as far as quality control went on the Northern scene. Well 1979 was an absolute revelation. This was possibly the best year for new discoveries in the scene’s history. I would honestly bet my last quid that the last hour of this mix is possibly the greatest selection of records I’ve ever played in one go and would match it against any DJ’s set from any period.
Like all of the other episodes, I have only played records that I’ve actually got, which is good news because it means there’s no 70’s disco shit on there. There is no DJing on this one because I didn’t really want to go into great detail about what I was doing in 1979, it was nothing illegal but I was a very silly boy for a lot of that year. Fortunately, I survived…enjoy this one folks, it goes out to everyone who actually did “Keep The Faith” in the latter years of Wigan.
