I just fancied getting some of the old UK label records out and giving them a blast, this one is not ALL Northern Soul but most of it is, the one’s that aren’t certainly are not too far removed from Northern. It’s amazing that after all this time, new things can still be found on British, witness stuff like Gerry Dorsey (actually an incredibly rare UK Hickory release prior to him changing his name to Engelbert Humperdinck), Heather on King (a great revamp of a Hortense Ellis release on R & B a couple of years earlier) and the stomping “Shakey Jakes”, none of which were known a decade ago. Some good obscurities on here as well, plus a few classics and a few of my favourites. (All dubbed from the original vinyl, so expect a bit of crackle and pop)
