Following my recent trip to New York, Philadelphia and New Jersey, my latest Iso Rockers Radio show is an all-vinyl special built from a bag of records I’ve spent months tracking down from across the United States.
The reality is that there wasn’t much time for digging on the ground, so before travelling I went slightly overboard on Discogs, buying records from stores and sellers all over America and having them shipped to family in New Jersey. The result was a very heavy record bag coming home and a stack of records I’ve been itching to play.
It’s also an incredible time to be in New York right now. The city is buzzing with the Knicks chasing their first NBA Championship in over 50 years, while the World Cup kicks off this week across the United States, Canada and Mexico. The energy was everywhere.
Expect soul, funk, jazz, disco, hip-hop breaks, rare grooves and the kind of records that make travelling with overweight luggage worthwhile.
