Born and raised in Vallejo, DJ-producer-composer-singer-songwriter Louie El Ser is the daughter of a Latin jazz artist well-known from the Bay to LA. So from a young age she had to make sure she did her homework—and practiced her instruments. Though she started learning by ear, she’s kept up the musical practice all the way to studying music formally at a graduate level.
In this interview recorded live on Lower Grand Radio, Louie shares more about her musical upbringing, what she learned from living in Paris, and what makes being an artist in the Bay so special. Plus, she shared an hourlong mix slicing up dance music, classic R&B, and an eclectic range of Latin sounds.
