The Jackson 5 were a popular music family from Gary, indiana. The founding members were Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon & Michael. They were signed to Motown in 1968 and were the biggest pop music act in 1970's. The band served as a launch pad for Jermaine & Michaels solo careers. Durin their active years they sold 100million records worldwide. the group was discovered by Gladys Knight and not Diana Ross as is so frequently told. They had 18 albums between 1969-1989, and MJJ left in 1984 after the victory tour to persue a solo career, and their legacy still lives on today in the boy band phenomenon.
Chaka Khan aka Yvette Marie Stevens is know as the queen of funk. A 10 time grammy winning singer songwriter she became known in the 70's as part of funk band 'RUFUS'. She began a solo career whilst still in the band and also joined the Black Panther Party in 1967, where she and her sister changed their names to Chaka and Taka. 11 studio albums later she still tours and is a living legend.
