Nick Kellaway is a DJ based in Newcastle. This mix is a soundtrack to the city after dark — leaving the lights of the centre behind, following the coast and the quieter streets home.
Drawing on the deeper end of Nick’s musical history, Newcastle Nights moves through dubby house and techno, submerged grooves and warm, hypnotic electronics. It reflects both a long relationship with this music and the particular feeling of Newcastle at night: a small city, the ocean always close, and plenty of space between things.
Originally from New Zealand, Nick Kellaway moved to Sydney in 2005 and has been involved in underground music since the late ’90s, with roots in drum & bass, house and techno. Over the years he has played for promoters including Haunted Science and Compound, run the soul and funk-focused Wax Museum parties, and appeared on FBi Radio, 2RRR and Bondi Beach Radio.
