In the 50's he came to prominence as a member of, and composer of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers.
In the 60's he joined Miles Davis's second quintet and then co-founded the jazz fusion band Weather Report. He recorded 20 albums as a band leader. Here are some of my favourite tracks from 12 or their albums.
