Origins 2 - House Music Pioneers (Classic Soul, Funk & Disco 1974-81)

Another look into the early roots of House Music, this time original unmixed versions of pioneering soul, funk and disco tracks from the mid 70's to the very early 80's.

This is the era I began to take an interest in alternative music as a child, straying from the UK charts of the time and nabbing my Dad's records instead. Listening to this series really brings back happy memories of growing up, which is why I recorded it. I also find it fascinating to to hear the melodies, beats and grooves that are still imitated or sampled electronically today, almost 40 years later.

Beginning with a gorgeous jazz version of Street Life by Randy Crawford and ending with my favourite track of the set - Shalamar's 1978 hit Take That To The Bank, I reckon this is a sweet set of oldies for the car. Happy to share :)
