John Keyworth - Heavenly 5

The Heavenly series is all about “niceness” with a Soul slant and this CD is no exception. Kicking off with Magic, a beautiful slow-starting soul-vocal Triphop track from Nor Elle, cruising on a similar altitude all the way to a gorgeous acoustic remix of Samantha James’ Come Through. The tracks then take a turn in the direction of vocal Lounge / Jazz / Soul including my unusual remix of Sade’s Like A Tattoo, another of Peven Everett’s disco/soul classics and a wicked feel-good jazz-samba track from Sofia Petterson called Better Days. It’s one of those songs that you just can’t help tapping your foot to, believe me. Tokyo Counterpoint takes the CD to a penultimate high point with To The Sky and the higher-paced Sine And Pulse, but Samantha James ends the CD on the highest note with the best remix I’ve ever heard of her track Rain. Just beautiful!
