Johnnie Walker talks to Suzie Quatro This year marks the 50th anniversary of Suzi Quatro's breakthrough single Can the Can. She's celebrating by embarking on a UK tour playing through her hits throughout the years.
Suzi was born in Detroit, Michigan and learned drums from an early age, playing in her father’s jazz band. Being ever resourceful, it wasn't long before she formed her own all-girl group - The Pleasure Seekers.
But it was in the early 70s that she got her big break, when she was spotted by producer Mickie Most, who signed her to his own RAK Records. She then moved to England and, with the label's help, supported Thin Lizzy and Slade on tour, as well as releasing a string of hit singles that included Can the Can, 48 Crash and Devil Gate Drive.
