Billy’s been around since the early days of Punk, when he was part of the so-called Bromley Contingent, a clique of influencers who ended being key players in the music and fashion scenes of the late ‘70s and early ‘80s. He was there, fanatically following the Sex Pistols when they were first sowing their seeds of notoriety, and his band Generation X toured with Marc Bolan, just weeks before the T.Rex frontman died in 1977. William Michael Albert Broad (born 30 November 1955), known professionally as Billy Idol, is an English singer who holds dual British and American citizenship. He first achieved fame in the 1970s emerging from the London punk rock scene as the lead singer of the group Generation X.
