The Twelve Inch 55 : Burning Up : New Wave/Dance-Pop - Eighties

Thanks to Pe for, once again, suggesting a swap-around of shows. (I hope he's not regretting this one!)


For most, Beavis and Butthead was either wry satire or televised idiocy. For my friends and I, it was documentary, mirroring many of our observational teenage gruntings whilst watching music videos.

Case in point:
Upon my first viewing of the video for the opening track, I was completely captivated by Madonna's succubine writhing. I said to my friend: 'Whoa!...Uhhhh...huh-huh...This chick is going to be big! Huh-huh...'

He replied: 'Heh-heh...No way man, this sucks! But she's hot. Heh-heh.'

The rest is (ancient) history.


This mix is not all dance, but most of them are extended, and knowing that Pe is a cinephile, he will appreciate a few soundtrack songs from some of the greatest films American cinema has ever made, such as Valley Girl, Fast Times at Ridgemont High (Sean Penn's finest performance), The Lost Boys, and Fame.
