Mixtape 71: Twisted Christmas (Is It Too Early?) (241206)

When I worked in a record shop, at Christmas time it was mandated that every other album we played should be a Christmas album, in order to 'move product'.

To avoid having to constantly listen to Mannheim Steamroller and A Very Special Christmas, my colleagues and I became very adept at seeking out new and different Christmas listening experiences...the kind you don't hear on the radio or TV, nor piped into shops, nor at Christmas parties...not the kind of Christmas music for people who don't really like music.

I have maintained this habit into adulthood.

This is the first of a series of Christmas mixes, and I had to get the novelty stuff out of the way first so I wouldn't be tempted on later mixes. These are all examples of Christmas songs that 'ain't quite right'. There's even a little bit of Sun Ra hidden in the mix, too. I hope you enjoy.
