The Copyright mix of 'La Mezcla' has been a massive hit around the G household for a few years now. Every time it pops up on the iPod Classic, it gets at least 3 or 4 repeat plays, no matter who is in charge of the audio.
After hanging around on Mixcloud for a bit, I was delighted to discover that there are whole sub-genres of house music that play songs with a similar build and feel to them. I was also delighted to discover that there are dozens of remixes of 'La Mezcla' hanging about, too.
I've wanted to put together a long playlist of similar songs to listen to while driving or doing other things: strong organic danceable beats built upon Latin American, Middle Eastern, or Andalucian influences and/or samples. And then I thought 'Hey, maybe I should make a mix and share it!'
I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed putting it together and subsequently listening to it.
