One of hopefully a few end of the year mixes for 2011. Did this one today with very little planning, just sort of went for it. Starts off with two of my favorite tracks this year by relative dance music outsiders, Haxan Cloak and Container, gets a little Berlin-y then noisey and raging and at the end there's some Shackleton and the Kasai Allstars over a recently rediscovered Lil Louis house classic, just cuz.
Not entirely 2011 material by any means, instead trying to make connections between some of the most interesting things going on in dance music in the UK (and a few other places) and some precedents, sources. This one focuses, in particular, on the explosion of techno as a central influence for a huge range of artists not previously associated with the genre from Blawan to Container. Doesn't even begin to cover all the good stuff in this vein this year, so with any luck the first of several.
