This set and the sets to follow in this new series are a tribute to the birth of hip-hop, it's culture and especially to the godmother of rap Silvia Robinson who unfortunately died on 29 september 2011, now almost two years ago.
Silvia Robinson started Sugarhill Records and wrote classic hits like "Rapper's Delight" performed by The Sugarhill Gang and "The Message" performed by Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five".
Quote Silvia Robinson:
The DJ was talking over the music, and the kids were going crazy. [...] All of a sudden, something said to me: 'Put something like that on a record, and it will be the biggest thing you ever had'. I didn't even know you called it rap.
With this music it all started for me, this is what got me into independent and uncompromising music, loved it then and I still do.
Hope you all like it and thanks again for listening.
