Awde's lengthy tome about this unique keyboard describes classic rock tracks using the original mechanical Mellotron; songs by The Beatles, The Moody Blues, Genesis, Led Zeppelin, Barclay James Harvest and Tangerine Dream. The punk band The Subway Sect even used one. Later users and fans included OMD, XTC, Oasis and Radiohead. Now it's made a comeback. You can hear it all over the place as a million digitised samples.
