Description
Patrick Humphries author of The Lonnie Donegan Story - The Birth of British Rock 'n' Roll published by The Robson Press came to Resonance fm 104.4 London to appear on Henry Scott-Irvine Presents on October 7th 2102 to tell the story of The Godfather of Skiffle. Lonnie remained John Peel's favourite artiste of all time - always. Donegan was so much more than just the composer of My Old Man's A Dustman. Cumberland Gap and his version of Freight Train Blues are, in particular, a tremendous treat. Listen in to hear more from the man who influenced John Lennon, Van Morrison, Mungo Jerry, and Mumford & Son, among many other notables. In 2000 I was lucky to witness Lonnie's final live performance with Ronnie Wood singing Lost John at AIR Lyndhurst Studios for John Lennon Night later to transmit on Channel 4 TV here at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdsz7xOnYVs Producer-Presenter Henry Scott-Irvine. *NB Some static and distortion during the 1st 3 mins 30 secs in this off air copy.
