Description
This Resonance fm 104.4 London show first transmitted on November 25th and 27th 2014. Classic Stiff songs followed Billy Preston when Stiff Records' biographer Richard Balls discussed his Soundcheck Books' biography Be Stiff: The Stiff Records Story, a book about the first Indy record label that 'Wanted' to be different. From 1976 until 1987 Stiff signed diverse acts such as Richard Hell & The Voidoids, Ian Dury, Max Wall, Elvis Costello, Jona Lewie, Tracey Ullman, Madness, Wreckless Eric, Nick Lowe, Kirsty McCall, Lene Lovich, Devo, The Pogues, and The Damned. Label bosses Jake Riviera and Dave Robinson toured packages of bands representing a label that was never surpassed in terms of its insouciance. 'Hippies Use The Side Door' may well have been a phrase that Stiff label boss jake Riviera might have once said ... We also featured a 'new' live studio session from Cole Salewicz's Savage Nomads - 'London's finest', said 'BBC Introducing' in 2014. Henry Scott-Irvine Presenter-Producer
