Description
An EXCLUSIVE ... Growing up in the 1950s BILLY RATH was imbued with pure rock’n’roll spirit. In the 1960s he honed his bass guitar chops playing in local bands, whilst dabbling in modelling and the life of a gigolo. By the mid-70s Billy was at the epicentre of the New York underground ‘street’ rock’n’roll scene playing alongside ex-New York Doll Johnny Thunders as a member of THE HEARTBREAKERS, whom MALCOLM McLAREN invited to join the Sex Pistols’ notorious ANARCHY IN THE U.K. tour in December 1976. In conversation with Henry Scott-Irvine, BILLY RATH talks about his life and musical legacy, recounting his times with Johnny Thunders, Walter Lure, Blondie, the Sex Pistols, Motorhead, Ronnie Spector, Lenny Kaye, Nico, Left Hand Frank & one of his current favourite bands, King Salami.
