The 13th turned out a lucky day back in February 2013. Flamin Groovy Chris Wilson came in to Resonance 104.4 fm London talk on my radio show Wanted about the years he had spent with The Flamin Groovies (from 1971 until 1982). Personifying a guitar sound not heard since the mid 1960's. The Groovies were like a live hybrid of The Byrds and the Beatles fused together with an added dash of Paul Revere & The Raiders. Following this show The Flamin Groovies reformed the nucleus of Sire years members; namely Cyril Jordan, George Alexander and Chris Wilson, augmented by FAB new drummer Victor M Penalosa and, for London gigs only, Matthew Fisher (of Procol Harum's A Whiter Shade Of Pale fame) on Hammond organ. Supporting Bruce Springsteen at Olympic Park in the Summer, The Groovies had triumphantly returned. A dynamic gig at London's Scala set the blue touch paper burning for a coast-to-coast tour of the USA and Japan. A new album is promised soon! Henry Scott-Irvine Producer-Presenter
