Musician and Film Maker Alan Benson has written, produced, and directed ‘music and arts’ based documentaries for BBC TV, ITV’s ‘The Southbank Show’ (which is soon to end), Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Really Useful Picture Company’, Buena Vista-Disney, and Celador Productions. His best known work featured within ITV’s ‘The Southbank Show’, and it is the cream of these ‘Southbank Show’ documentaries that we celebrate here tonight.
Part 2 begins by discussing ‘Rhythm ‘N’ Blues’ in the shape of Southend ‘Rockers’ Dr Feelgood (currently featured in Julien Temple’s latest movie ‘Oil City Confidential’). We also discuss ITV’s ‘Spitting Image’ series, alongside the work of violin virtuoso Itzhak Perlman, the Broadway Musicals of Steven Sondheim, and George & Ira Gershwin; and the work of Beatles producer George Martin, alongside The Beatles’ ‘Sgt Peppers’ album.
