I've been so obsessed with finding holy grail funk records, mostly in vain, that I totally overlook bins with what I used to call gangster 45s. I came up with that term one day when listening to an old Bob Marley budget compilation; I already knew enough about the record industry in Jamaica at that time from watching various documentaries, so I think I can make that distinction without being too far off the mark. In any event, finding the aforementioned 45s here in my neck of the woods can be a painful exercise in futility; not for lack of trying though. The last trip to the fire haul turned up a few which I promptly scored in all their scratched glory. They're not too rare, but I like what I got out of them. After some tender loving care, I give this small contribution to you. Enjoy the riddim :)
