Description
Describing his work through the pithy phrase, ‘I rust things,’ Jim Haynes (b. 1972) is a California-based artist who has developed a vocabulary of decay that he has applied to photography, video, installation, and sound. Haynes’ sound work draws from shortwave radio static, electric field disturbances, controlled feedback manipulation, and numerous textural scrapings, manifesting the broken minimalism of magnetic drones and volatile tactility.
Haynes is one of the directors for 23five Incorporated and is the sole occupant at the Helen Scarsdale Agency (founded in 2003). His latest work "Imsonia" was released on Sentimental Productions (Ukrain, 24 August 2022)
About the mix: Two tracks of my own that bookend a very brief survey of influences past and present, the whole collection addressing entropy, violence,
emptiness, etc. - Jim.
