Description
On a recent vacation trip to Marrakech, I collected samples, local material, sounds, and rhythms there and from across north Africa. The challenge: to put them together in a set. This is the result.
Marrakech is a unique and amazing melting pot where east, west, north and south all meet in a rich and diverse mix of cultures and identities. This set comprises tribal elements from north Africa (particularly Morocco, Mali, and Senegal), Arabic (north Africa) as well as western, and samples and stems from mosques, snake charmers, tribal songs and instruments from the Berber / Touareg people (hence title), wildlife, birds, children and more, embracing the vibe, energy, people and cultures its been an honour for me to meet.
Its a complete departure from anything I've done before but the music came together somehow, I really didn't want to end up with a tribal deep house set as some do. It has been one hell of a journey, and emotional, but I hope you like it.
"Welcome to Africa."
