Caroline Cardenas - Energetic Oddities and Synth-Tinted Odes
“As a woman in music, it feels good and inspiring to know that powerful women such as Sylvia [Robinson] existed in the industry. I hope someday, I can say that I played an important role in music, even if minimally significant.”
In her interview and mixtape, the Miami-based DJ takes us on a journey through sounds. With predominantly 1980s tunes, Cardenas eases in with some gentle German Krautrock from Harmonia, and stays on the gentle side of Herbie Hancock, with “Bubbles”. The middle of the tape amps up the energy, with Ikare helping to do so, with Pizzacato Five not far behind. The energy subsides as the tape goes on, but without missing the optimism Michael Sterlung will leave you with. Enjoy!
