Do I really have to introduce Tchaikovsky? I remember reading Alexandre Dumas' "Three Musketeers" and listening to this music when I was like 14 years old...staying up all night. My mother was a night owl and I became one too...and still am.
We had the Eugene Ormandy,Boston Philharmonic Orchestra version (Decca) which is in my opinion the best. DO NOT get the von Karajan version he was a punk and should never have been allowed to conduct Tchaikovsky...I wonder why the man was in such a hurry all the time. This includes Tchaikovsky's best known work.Plus at the end the movie score to "Where Eagles Dare" by Ron Goodwin and "Bolero" by Maurice Ravel.I did this at least 10 years ago so you'll excuse me if my memory ain't that good anymore...
