Description
2016 will always be remembered for the shocking losses of two iconic artists and musical geniusses that changed the world of music. Off course i'm talking about David Bowie and Prince. But we lost more great ones: Maurice White (Earth, Wind & Fire), Sharon Jones, Toots Thielemans, Phive Dawg (ATCQ), Colonel Abrahams (Trapped) and Leonard Cohen. I also came to the conclusion that it was a great year for soul, r'nb and (old skool) hip hop. (Childish Cambino, The Internet, Solange, Frank Ocean). De la Soul released a strong album through crowdfunding and A Tribe Called Quest made a huge comeback double album and also Common found inspiration in these trying times with the release of Black America Again. (not includes in this selection). Byron the Aquarius and Kai Alcé brought warmth and soul to the clubs and i also heard a lot of African influenced tracks this summer on the dancefestivals (Africaine 808).
I wish you happy holidays and a great 2017!
