Description
These a my favourite soul, funk, hip hop, jazz and dubstep tracks of 2009. It was a supberb year and it was quiet hard to limit myself to 15 tracks. Especially in the dubstep area i had to skip some great tracks. The album "great lenghts" by dutchman Martyn, i liked best. The live gigs of the long awaited Q-tip and Fat Freddy's Drop (both in Paradiso, Amsterdam) were terrific. Antony Hamilton was also amazing, what a voice! The tune i probably played most on my ipod while riding on my bike to work was cyclotron by Harmonic 313 (and how apropriate). The best "come-back" goes to Mos Def and also Massive Attack. My latest discovery (only last week) was Blakroc, a hiphop project by The Black Keys. The best mash-up is definitely Jay-Z with the Lefties Soul Connection. For 2010 i'm looking forward to the sound of Hudson Mohawke and Damn-funk.
