To celebrate the 20th birthday of our record label First Word, I’m putting together a series of mixtapes culled from the archive of over 1500 songs in our back catalogue. This isn’t a ‘best of’, this is a way of telling our story that’s taken us from a small outfit operated out of a couple of spare rooms in Leeds and Sheffield to where we are now, 300 releases deep with a couple of decades worth of tales to tell. I’m so proud and grateful to our artists for sharing such beautiful music with us over the years. I hope we did your work justice. Big love to you all.
This edition ‘Seasons:Spring’ is the first of 4; you can probably guess what the others are called. Dive in, and if you like what you hear go find the original album on our Bandcamp page and make sure you share the music with a friend too. That’s what it’s all about, after all.
