Description
On September 18, 2014 Prince Klassen and I had the honor and pleasure of putting together a live mix live for a slideshow curated by Jamel Shabazz. This would be the NYC premier of Jamel's "We Live in Brooklyn Baby" to be screened @ Photoville in Brooklyn Bridge park . The idea was to use music that made sense in the context of a piece about Brooklyn. We used a number of tracks that directly referenced the borough, others that more subtly hinted at it, and some that were sampled for classic NYC tunes.
The transitions between the tracks were buffered by field recordings made on trips to donut shops in Borough Park, Bodegas in Sheepshead Bay, lounges on Mcdonald ave, parties in Bedford-Stuyvesent, as well as handball courts and subway exchanges borough wide.
Sadly, the recording Device we set up at Photoville that evening had an input error, therefore the mix here is a home recording not a "live" one from the event.
