Speak Cornish Week is back from Monday 23rd to Sunday 29th June, celebrating Cornwall’s native language with a week of community events, conversation meet-ups, and chances for everyone to have a go at using Kernewek whether you’re a fluent speaker or total beginner.
This year’s theme is “Kernow ov vy” — “I am a Cornish person” — and encourages individuals, schools, and businesses to describe themselves using everyday Cornish phrases. The week is led by An Rosweyth, a network of Cornish language organisations who are passionate about keeping the language alive and accessible.
Joining us to tell us more about the week was Emma Jenkin of An Rosweyth.
