Sharon Murphy & Mayo says No to Racism- Social Inclusion Awareness Week

As part of Mayo Social Inclusion Awareness week John Farragher from Claremorris Community Radio attended a Cairdeas/Befriending event: Mayo Says No to Racism, in the #Ballina Arts Centre, organised by #Mayo Co Co featuring Singer Songwriter Sharon Murphy among a host of participants from the white and BIPOC communities of Ireland and abroad. Sharon spoke succinctly about some of systemic issues that need to be addressed and that only people, such as Sharon, with lived experience of racism feel in body and mind and from whom we can learn a lot. Racism is systemic and something we're born into in our culture. And we each have the ability and responsibility to change the systemic nature of what has been normalised in our global culture.
