Laidback start, floor-filling finish — this 31-track slow-builder eases in with Sunburst’s smoky shimmer and Szabo’s breezy strut, before Brit-funk lands with Light Of The World’s polished stepper. Jungle drums (Kool & the Gang), go-go grit (Chuck Brown), and early synth-soul from Kleer and Whole Darn Family raise the tempo. Mid-set locks in with Blackbyrds, Twennynine and a rare Rhyze rework, while Jimmy Ross and Funk Deluxe glide into electro-tinged territory. Hathaway and The JB’s ground it in groove, then it’s lift-off: Afro-Latin heat, NYC no-wave edge (Liquid Liquid), and Hancock’s squelching finale. 1973–84, 12in cuts, 95–124bpm. No gimmicks, just rare groove pressure, BPM discipline, and deep rhythm knowledge. One for the heads.
