Hirshi (Dan Hirshorn) + Phleghm (Zach Fleming) met as students attending NYU. At the time, Zach hosted WNYU FM's The New Afternoon Show, playing new independent music of all kinds. Dan stumbled upon bass music after an intense hip-hop love, and with Zach's help formed a new WNYU.org program, The Grime Machine.
