Description
Those of you who know me at all will know how much the music of Prince Rogers Nelson means to me. Quite simply "he was my Bowie". He was also my Beatles, my Rolling Stones, my Fleetwood Mac, my Stevie Wonder, my Parliament-Funkadelic, my Sly & The Family Stone, my Kraftwerk, my house, my Techno, my Disco... my entire musical DNA.
He was quite simply exceptional. An exceptional songwriter, performer, singer, dancer, guitarist ... to be exceptional at any one of these things would have made him special, but he was phenomenal in every field. He brought together element from every field of popular music, be it pop, rock, soul, funk, disco or jazz, and make something which transcended all of these genres.
As I said when I broadcast the show, I don't really have the words to describe how much he meant, so I'll let him do the talking.
I've edited the live broadcasting a little, so here is an extended version ...
