Maria Grapsa presents: East Of The Sun (26 September 2026)

London-based Greek jazz pianist and composer Maria Grapsa presents a monthly radio journey through inspirational, creative and improvised sounds from around the world. Rooted in folk traditions and their meeting point with jazz, the show explores how heritage, rhythm and spontaneity come together in fresh and unexpected ways. With occasional guest musicians sharing their latest releases and musical stories — and the odd dive into timeless classics — it’s a vibrant celebration of global sound and improvisation.

Journey across borders and traditions with an East of the Sun episode that weaves together contemporary jazz, Mediterranean melodies, Middle Eastern maqam, and folk-inspired improvisation. From the reflective intimacy of Kham Meslien and Tingvall Trio to the vibrant rhythms of Marco Mezquida, Nai Barghouti, and Yiorgos Bereris, this show explores music shaped by movement, memory, and cultural exchange.
