London-based Greek jazz pianist and composer Maria Grapsa presents a monthly radio journey through inspirational, creative and improvised sounds from around the world. Rooted in folk traditions and their meeting point with jazz, the show explores how heritage, rhythm and spontaneity come together in fresh and unexpected ways. With occasional guest musicians sharing their latest releases and musical stories — and the odd dive into timeless classics — it’s a vibrant celebration of global sound and improvisation.

On this show Maria welcomes jazz singer, composer and improviser Bea Asurmendi from the Basque Country to East of the Sun for a relaxed and fun chat. They talk about Bea’s debut album Asteartea, the stories behind the music, her creative process, and the inspirations behind it, while listening to tracks from the album and some of the music that influenced it along the way.
