"Nach dem Spiel ist vor dem Spiel" is a German saying, meaning: "After the game is before the game". Does is make sense? It does, to Germans. In this new edition of our jazzahead! radio show we look back on some of the artists, who played this year, such as Swiss pianist Manon Mullener, Dutch pianist and singer Maaike den Dunnen and Mexican vocalist Lucía as well as vibes-player Eduardo Cardinho, who was a part of Carlos Bica's band 11:11, and pianist William Hill III, who accompanied vocalist Tyreek McDole. There's also a look ahhead at our partner country Sweden with new music from Jacob Karlzon (with Rhani Krija) and the Norrbotten Big Band with Genévieve Artadi. Drummer Jens Düppe, a constant presence at jazzahead!, can be heard with a new song from "Ism", Bembeya Jazz National reminds us of possible origins of the word Jazz itself, and we remember Andy Bey, who passed away on the weekend of jazzahead!.
