Götz Bühler presents: Jazz thing (24 November 2025)

Mavis Staples’ new version of “We Got to Have Peace,” Curtis Mayfield’s anti-war anthem from over fifty years ago, forms an anchor point in this program by the editorial staff of Germany’s premiere magazine Jazz thing. Around, over and through it flow peaceful new melodies for our time from Ukrainian folk-explorer Ganna, Berlin based drummer and sound architect Adeolu, organist Simon Oslender with Will Lee and Steve Gadd, trumpeter Peter Evans’ Being & Becoming, young German pianist Justin Zitt with his trio, the duos of Theo Croker & Sullivan Fortner and John Scofield & Dave Holland, Greek saxophonist George Kontomichalis, Dutch saxophonist Yuri Honing’s Peace Orchestra, Slovenian saxophonist Jure Pukl, as well as a new song by Jamie Woon.
