Fuse throws light on expressive artists who release music with a 'no rules' attitude, drawing on inspirations that are genuine and heartfelt. It's jazz that likes to bump up against the edges, touching on a myriad of genres be they traditional folk, electronica, chamber music or rave. There is a focus on new releases from Europe, as well as, Africa, America and Asia, but always makes room for classics that are as relevant today as ever.
In this episode here is music from pianists Marie Krüttli, Alexander Hawkins and Daniel Inzani who plays at Jazz Stroud this year and a track from the new band Beiggja with saxophonist Kika Sprangers. Plus, there is a taste of Terri Lynne Carrington's We Insist! 2025, a reimagining of Max Roach's classic album from 1961.
