Christ-Stéphane Boizi presents: The Spirit Leads (September 2026)

The relationship between the jazz tradition and the music of the Church is unmistakable. Throughout the years, jazz musicians have made a point of recognising church music as the very fabric of this music. From the negro spirituals to hymns to gospel classics, there is a breadth of music. Many musicians today are deeply inspired by their faith, producing direct and uncompromising music that pushes the needle forward in the Jazz world.

Trombonist Christ-Stéphane Boizi’s debut album As The Spirit Leads follows in that tradition. Christ-Stéphane wants to shine a light on these artists and honour the musicians who laid the groundwork, helping them to feel comfortable enough to use their faith as musical inspiration.
