Winter Light / Summer Heat #311 Saladin And His Brother Quinn

You may remember hearing about the Third Crusade on my episode titled The Pickled King. At that time I mentioned how Holy Roman Emperor Frederick Barbarossa did not fair too well and ended his life like so many cucumbers - pickled in vinegar and stuffed in a barrel. Tonight's show brings us to another belligerent in that war: Saladin - first sultan of both Egypt and Syria. His capture of Jerusalem and other key areas precipitated the Third Crusade, as those wily crusaders wouldn't let that stand. Many areas were won back by the crusaders, but Saladin never let go of Jerusalem. But, hey, this show isn't just about Saladin, but also his brother Quinn. Tonight is 2 hours of mostly psychedelic tunes coming out of, and influenced by, the old stomping grounds, and surrounding areas, of Quinn and his militant brother Saladin. The geography stretches a little father than this premise accounts for, but hey, I couldn't resist putting these songs that sound so good together together.
