The Pharos of Alexandria stood for over 1,500 years. At it's building in the 3rd century BC, it was the second tallest structure in the world behind only the pyramids of Giza. It remained one of the tallest structures until its ruin. It took twelve years and 800 talents of silver to complete. Tonight's playlist aims to capture the monumental. These songs have a certain energy and magnitude such that you can imagine the builders of the Pharos would have listened to them as they summited the zenith- had they the tools to do so.
