Description
We are a powerful race, but man bends the knee to powers greater. From food, oxygen, transport, recreation - the sea is a lifeblood of our way of life. Poets have waxed endlessly on the plurality of the sea, Coleridge, Hawthorne, Walcott, Homer, Conrad have all made their mark and weighed in on the cruelty and beauty of nature's greatest force. We place meaning on it, say it exhibits comfort, calm, sorrow, rage, anxiety, fleeting memory. Music does much of the same. In this case, a bodiless canvas for man to project and paint our emotions. This episode is not about the ocean, but instead what music can evoke in you. And tonight I believe it will evoke feelings of past that is present, an almost despairing, or pining, moodiness that helps you cast off into the night as the notes slip into the black abyss. Music has never been friendly to man. At most it has been the accomplice of human restlessness. A continuation of A Remote And Incorporeal World (aired 3/12/2025)
