Trauma-informed journalism is a relatively new term, even though covering trauma — ranging from storms and fires to sexual assaults and homicides to mass shootings and wars — has always been a part of journalists’ work.
In the current global landscape, we find ourselves witnessing unfolding events in regions of heightened conflict, such as Palestine. As these complex situations play out, the role of journalists becomes even more critical, not just as narrators of events but as individuals responsible for handling the deeply sensitive and traumatic stories that emerge from these areas.
