Description
Shout out to the techno ravers in the house! As the Summer now comes to a close, Charlie Killawatt gives us one last chance to party with an episode all on old school rave's influence on modern techno. It was a special and fondly remembered time in electronic dance music for its high energy, varied production styles, big riffs, and an anarchistic approach to event promotion and copyright. The influence of music scenes from as far as Detroit, Ibiza, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, came together within the UK, mixing techno, house, hip hop, disco, and a little bit of punk too. This resulted in uber-saturated, hypercontrasting tunes with cheesy vocals and melodies alongside dark stabs and bass. Charlie has picked out some tunes which take the sounds and styles of the past and put them into a new, modern format. Expect to hear the likes of the UK's Player, D.A.V.E. The Drummer, and DDR alongside artists around the world such as Ayako Mori, zpectrum, and JKS. Break those glowsticks out!
