This first piece is a piece called Femenine by Julius Eastman, played by Wild Life, an orchestra who specialise in the more experimental side of things. This piece was lost for years and only found recently in the back of a cupboard. Eastman is almost unheard of but rubbed shoulders with Philip Glass, Terry Riley and all the other NY composers - and even appears on Arthur Russell's disco project, Loose Joints (he's the one shouting 'corn'). This piece melds all the elements of minimalism but with a slightly looser, jazzier feel to things. A great piece that's worthy of reappraisal!
